El Al Fleet has a long history, with its first aircraft being delivered in 1949. The airline's fleet has grown significantly over the years, with a mix of Boeing and Airbus planes.
One of the oldest planes in El Al's fleet is the Boeing 747, which was introduced in 1973. This iconic plane has been a staple of the airline's fleet for over 40 years.
El Al has a total of 37 aircraft in its fleet, with an average age of 12 years. This relatively young fleet ensures that passengers have a modern and comfortable flying experience.
In 2019, El Al took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, marking a significant change in the airline's fleet composition.
Fleet Replacement Plans
El Al is planning to increase its 787 fleet to 19 aircraft by the middle of 2026. This will be a significant boost to their long-haul capabilities.
The airline currently operates four 787-8s with 239 passenger seats each and 12 787-9s with 271 passenger seats each. Each of these aircraft is fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.

El Al is also negotiating with Boeing to purchase three more 787s with options on another six. This would bring their total 787 fleet to 22 aircraft by 2030.
The airline's narrowbody fleet replacement and renewal campaign is entering its final stages, with plans to replace its existing 24 Boeing 737s with a new fleet of 28-31 aircraft by 2030.
Expansion and Upgrades
El Al is planning to expand its freighter fleet. The airline currently operates a single freighter, a B737-800(BCF), and also has two A300-600R(F) freighters on wet-lease.
The airline has signed an agreement to purchase a B777 for USD7.3 million in July 2024, but it will be dismantled for spare parts. This is a strategic move to increase its inventory of aircraft engines and spare parts.
El Al has also bought a B737-800 that it had leased for the past twelve years, but the details of the purchase are not disclosed. This shows that the airline is actively managing its fleet and making strategic decisions.

The airline operates 45 aircraft in total, with plans to add more. It has a mix of aircraft types, including B737-800s, B777-200ERs, and B787-9s, among others.
El Al has a significant number of aircraft on order, including 20 B737-10s and 7 B787-9s. It also plans to add 31 B737 MAX aircraft to its fleet.
Current Fleet
El Al's fleet has undergone some significant changes over the years. El Al has a total of 16 Dreamliners in operation, with four 787-8s and 12 787-9s.
The Dreamliners are configured with 238 seats in a three-class layout. This configuration is ideal for long-haul flights, which El Al often operates.
The airline first received its Dreamliners in 2017, with the 787-9 being the first to join the fleet.
